The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) warmly welcome the delegation from The Netherlands, led by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, in late October. HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP, along with her research team from the Hong Kong Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (HKCeND), and the head of the Knowledge Transfer Office (Biomedical and Healthcare), met with the delegation and had constructive conversation.
Ms. Lucille MERKS, Deputy Consul General and Head of Economic Affairs at the Netherlands Consulate General in Hong Kong and Macao, expressed the objectives of the visit is to learn about the rapid digital transformation in healthcare and novel technologies that support the ageing communities in the region. The delegation included 11 healthcare industry professionals from The Netherlands and scholars from prestigious institutions such as the Amsterdam University Medical Center, Leiden University Medical Center, and Eindhoven University of Technology.
President Ip showcased HKUST's pioneering work in early detection and mitigation strategies for Alzheimer’s Disease in the meeting, followed by the latest research findings presented by Professor Amy FU, R&D Director of HKCeND.
HKUST will work with institutions and academic organizations worldwide and keep unveiling innovative solutions that tackle global challenges, such as ageing population.
