The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has received a generous donation from the Ho Iu Kwong Charity Foundation (the Foundation) to enhance student development and campus life. In appreciation of this benevolent support, HKUST has named the UG Student Hall III in honor of Mr. Ho Iu Kwong and his wife, Ms. Kwok Pui Chun.  Mr. HO Sai-Chu, eldest son of the late philanthropist and Chairman of the Foundation, attended the naming and plaque unveiling ceremony for the Ho Iu Kwong and Kwok Pui Chun Hall, joined by his family members, the Foundation’s representatives, and HKUST senior management. The late Mr. HO Iu Kwong, founder of Fook Lee Construction Company Ltd, was a distinguished business figure who made significant contributions to education and society.  

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) showcased its groundbreaking advancements in medical technology and thought leadership at the 2025 Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) today.  As the event’s exclusive Thematic Session and Health Innovation Partner, HKUST highlighted how technology and collaboration can create a more equitable and sustainable healthcare system for hundreds of participants, including policymakers, healthcare experts, industry leaders, start-ups and investors from around the globe.  

Two healthtech innovators nurtured by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) - PanopticAI Limited (PanopticAI) and SmartCare Technology Co Limited (SmartCare), have entered a landmark collaboration with Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong (Gleneagles). Witnessed by Prof. Nancy IP, President of HKUST; Dr. Prem Kumar NAIR, Group Chief Executive Officer of IHH Healthcare; and Dr. Patrick LAU, Deputy Executive Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the tripartite collaboration agreement signing marks a strategic effort to deploy AI-powered smart clinic solutions at Gleneagles MediCentre, set to launch in late 2025. The partnership exemplifies the commitment of both HKUST and Gleneagles to translating research excellence into real-world applications with a view to facilitating healthcare advancements through the University’s robust entrepreneurship ecosystem.

香港科技大學（科大）近日與山東兩大醫藥上市公司：綠葉製藥集團（綠葉製藥）與博安生物技術股份有限公司（博安生物）簽署合作協議，共同推動生物醫藥領域的前沿協作、成果轉化及人才培育，以支持科大發展醫療科技及申辦「香港生命健康研發院」等策略舉措。 深化前沿醫藥研究及人才培育合作 綠葉製藥是專注於創新藥物研發的領先中國醫藥企業，近年於中國內地、歐美、日本等主要醫藥市場成功上市13款新藥，在中樞神經系統（CNS）治療領域居領先地位。其子公司博安生物則是一家全面綜合性生物製藥公司，特別聚焦研發腫瘤、自身免疫、眼科和代謝疾病新藥及治療方法。根據協議內容，科大將與兩所企業就臨床前及臨床研究、前沿科學領域探索、人才培訓及交流和科研成果産業化等範疇展開深度協作。 其中，科大與博安生物將特別聚焦開發新型抗癌藥物和癌症新療法；與綠葉製藥則會集中研究神經科學與中樞神經系統疾病的新療法，以及先進藥物遞釋系統。此外，兩家企業亦將支持科大培育醫藥創新領域人才，為學生提供研究和實踐的產業基地，並提供相關科研技術落地應用平台。  科大副校長（研究及發展）鄭光廷教授樂見與兩間公司達成多領域合作，他表示：「科大一直致力推動科研成果產業化，積極搭建從實驗室走向市場的完善產業鏈。我們長期深耕生物醫藥領域的創新研究，近年更積極拓展醫療創新合作網絡。我們期待，透過結合AI與生物醫學的交叉優勢，科大可與兩家企業攜手協作，進一步推高產業化能力，並共同探索智能藥物開發、數據驅動的臨床研究等前沿方向，加速創新成果落地轉化，為全球帶來更精準、高效的醫療方案。」

HKUST has received an in-kind donation from AGC Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., a global leading glass supplier, and SKSE Inc., a Korean leading manufacturer of building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV). This collaboration was formalized during a signing ceremony held at HKUST on April 10, 2025.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today announces its Net-Zero Action Plan (Action Plan), which is the first among higher education institutions in Hong Kong to have a comprehensive framework with multi-pronged strategies aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2045. This plan is supported by a commitment of HK$30 million earned from renewable energy generation to further accelerate research and adoption of innovative decarbonization solutions on campus.

3月13日，國家教育部部長懷進鵬在京會見香港科技大學校董會主席沈向洋、校長葉玉如一行，就推進高水準大學建設、高等教育交流與科研合作進行深入探討。 懷進鵬部長對香港科技大學在科技創新、人才培養、成果轉化、合作辦學等方面取得的成績予以肯定，希望學校堅持立德樹人，聚焦國家發展，進一步發揮國際化優勢，加強高端人才培養、科研合作、產學研深度融合等方面的交流合作，培養更多具有國際視野和全球勝任力的優秀人才，深入推動教育科技人才一體化，服務國家和區域經濟社會發展。 沈向洋主席、葉玉如校長感謝國家教育部對香港科技大學的關心和支持，表示將不斷深化與內地高校的交流合作，提升高校科技成果轉化效能，為教育強國建設貢獻力量。 此次會晤中，教育部港澳台辦、高教司、科技司等司局代表出席。參與會議還包括香港科技大學（廣州）校長倪明選、香港科技大學首席副校長郭毅可、香港科技大學副校長（研究及發展）鄭光廷及香港科技大學（廣州）副校長（行政）龐鼎全等。

3月12日，國家衛生健康委員會主任雷海潮在北京會見香港科技大學（港科大）校董會主席沈向洋、校長葉玉如一行，就國家衛生健康領域的人才培養、科研創新及成果轉化等進行深入探討。  雷海潮主任在座談會中充分肯定了香港科技大學在人才培養、科技創新、成果轉化及國際合作等方面取得的突出成績。 他表示，希望港科大發揮自身在教育、科研及國際化方面的優勢，一方面加快推進醫學教育的創新發展，探索學科交叉融合，培養面向未來的高層次複合型人才; 另一方面加快科技創新步伐，推動高水平科研成果在臨床上的轉化與應用，裨益社會。 同時，他還期待港科大利用國際化的資源和優勢，為國家培養更多具有國際視野和國際治理能力的國際化人才，為全球健康事業貢獻中國智慧和力量。  沈向洋主席和葉玉如校長對國家衛生健康委員會的支持表示衷心感謝，並表示，港科大將全面加快醫學院建設步伐，持續致力於探索醫學教育的新模式，推動醫學科技領域的新突破，積極響應「健康中國」戰略，為國家醫學事業的發展和社會健康水平的提升貢獻更多力量。
