The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) warmly welcomed a delegation from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), led by Vice Chancellor and President Dr. Hazri KIFLE, to the campus on January 23. The visit aimed to strengthen partnership between the two institutions and explore potential collaboration opportunities.
HKUST Vice-President for Institutional Advancement, Prof. WANG Yang, hosted a productive meeting with Dr. Kifle and other delegation members, including Dr. Joyce TEO Siew Yean, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Global Engagement); Dr. Masairol MASRI, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Vice President (Industry Engagement and Enterprise Development) and Dr. Hardimah SAID, Dean of Faculty of Education. Representing HKUST in the discussions were Dr. Shin Cheul KIM, Associate Vice-President for Research and Development (Knowledge Transfer) and Dr. Sean MCMINN, Director of Center for Education Innovation. The meeting fostered insightful discussions on industry engagement, AI in education, and sustainability initiatives.
During the meeting, Dr. Kifle affirmed UBD’s commitment to participating in the Joint Declaration on Embracing a Living Lab Approach to Promote Carbon Neutrality, an initiative spearheaded by HKUST. This collaborative effort unites universities globally to combat climate change and secure a sustainable future for all.
Both institutions also expressed their intention to strengthen collaboration on student mobility and joint programs. With our commitment to sustainability and dedication to education excellence, HKUST and UBD are set to achieve great things together.
