HKUST Signs Collaboration Agreements with Guangzhou Government and Guangzhou University to Establish HKUST (GZ)
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology officially signed agreements today with the Guangzhou Municipal Government and Guangzhou University to establish Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST (GZ)), marking an important milestone in the University’s advancement. HKUST (GZ) will help steer frontier development of HKUST in education, science and technology, business and management as well as knowledge transfer, adding forces to Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA) which are gaining traction in innovation.

Three HKUST Distinguished Scholars Receive Croucher Senior Research Fellowship and Innovation Awards 2018

Croucher Foundation Presents Research Awards to Seven Distinguished Scholars (Issued on behalf of the Croucher Foundation)
The Croucher Foundation held the presentation ceremony of the Innovation and Senior Research Fellowship Awards today (December 7), honoring seven distinguished scholars from four universities including The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and City University of Hong Kong (CityU), for their excellent scientific research achievements. The Honorable Mr. Matthew CHEUNG Kin-chung, GBM, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, was the Guest of Honor at the ceremony.
This year, three awardees were presented with the Croucher Innovation Awards, three with the Croucher Senior Research Fellowships and one with the Croucher Senior Medical Research Fellowship.

HKUST Signs MoU with Haven of Hope Christian Service to Forge Partnership and Collaboration on Research
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is joining forces with Haven of Hope Christian Service (HOHCS) to gain further understanding and to develop solutions that could improve the quality of life for the elderly and their caregivers. The two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to forge their partnership.

HKUST School of Engineering to Turn “Experiential Learning” Into Compulsory Courses for Engineering Students
The School of Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today (December 4, 2018) announced its plan to turn “experiential learning” courses into compulsory courses for 800 Year 1 undergraduate students in two to three years’ time. All engineering students will have to build an engineering artifact to acquire multidisciplinary knowledge that suits what society needs.

HKUST Researchers Discover Mutation Route That Helps Find New Therapeutic Lead for Deadly Brain Cancer Patients
A research team consisting of scientists from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Beijing Tiantan Hospital have uncovered the mutational mechanism of how a rare and deadly brain cancer –secondary glioblastoma (sGBM) – progresses from its less lethal type. The groundbreaking finding has provided a therapeutic lead which may develop into a new kind of treatment for chemo-resistant patients.

HKUST Installs New President and Confers Honorary Doctoral Degrees on Three Distinguished Academics and Community Leaders at its 26th Congregation
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the installation of its fourth President Prof. Wei SHYY cum 26th Congregation (November 16) today. The University also awarded honorary doctorates to three outstanding individuals in recognition of their distinguished achievements and contributions.
