HKUST Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony to Celebrate the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held a flag-raising ceremony on campus this morning to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.The University was honored to have Ms. ZHOU Qian, Counselor of the Department of Treaty and Law at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, preside over the ceremony. She was joined by Dr. John CHAN, HKUST Pro-Chancellor; Dr. the Hon. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing, HKUST Court Chairman; and Prof. Nancy IP, HKUST President. The event was attended by over 400 members of the HKUST community and generated more than 10,000 online views via live stream.

HKUST, CAS-TECSU, and EDB Hold Award Presentation Ceremony for Hong Kong Secondary Student Space Station Popular Science Payload and Science Experiment Design Challenge
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Education Bureau (EDB), and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization (CAS-TECSU) jointly organized the Hong Kong Secondary Student Space Station Popular Science Payload and Science Experiment Design Challenge. An award ceremony was held at HKUST on September 21 to commend the outstanding student teams for their excellent designs and recognize their achievements in space science.

HKUST Kicks off New Academic Year with Vibrant "Fire Up Your Year" Carnival (Chinese Version Only)
香港科技大學(科大)今日(九月一日)舉辦開學嘉年華「Fire Up Your Year」,校長葉玉如教授聯同一眾管理層、教職員和校友,與學生一同獻唱校歌,又大玩互動問答遊戲兼送上豐富禮品,與新生及從各地回來上課的莘莘學子,喜迎新學年。其中,校董會成員兼大學評議會主席曾建中先生更在科大校友攤位前,向同學派發雪糕,在新學年伊始添上一絲甜意。 科大上周五亦為本學年秋季學期迎來了破紀錄的逾550名國際交換生,舉辦了一系列迎新活動和校園導覽,加深他們對科大的認識。這些國際交換生當中,有超過六成同學來自歐洲,其餘分別來自亞洲、美洲和大洋洲的國家或地區。 葉玉如校長於開學日致辭中,熱烈歡迎新一屆加入的同學,並勉勵所有學生、教職員和校友繼續秉持科大「凡事皆可為」的核心價值,勇於探索。她說:「新學年充滿著無限可能,我鼓勵大家抱持好奇心與實幹精神,專注學習之餘,亦走訪校園的不同角落,發掘自己的興趣,體驗非凡的機遇,勇於智闖,並結識能相隨一生的良師摯友。」 葉校長又指,同學在成長過程中難免會遇到挑戰,鼓勵大家把每個障礙視為讓自己成長的機會。她感謝眾多校友專程返回母校,在開學日為新生打氣;她更勉勵同學按自己的步伐成長,科大社群將成為他們堅實的後盾。 主辦開學嘉年華的環球事務及傳訊處和學務長辦公室亦邀請了一眾科大同學,呈獻無伴奏合唱及跳舞表演,並於校園設置攤位,與眾同樂。

HKUST Partners with CAS Technology and Engineering Center for Space Utilization to Host Hong Kong's First Belt and Road Space Technology Training Workshop (Chinese Version only)
由中國科學院國際合作局、中國載人航天工程辦公室及聯合國教科文組織共同指導,並由中國科學院空間應用工程與技術中心、香港科技大學(科大)和中國科學院香港創新研究院聯合主辦的「第二屆『一帶一路』空間科學應用國際培訓班」,於今天(2025年7月24日)至8月5日在科大舉辦。 是次培訓班首次在香港舉行,中國科學院空間應用工程與技術中心副主任(主持工作)王強、中國科學院國際合作局副局長吳艶、聯合國教科文組織基礎科學司司長胡少鋒、香港特區政府工業專員(創新及科技)葛明博士、埃及航天局局長Sherif SEDKY,以及科大副校長(研究及發展)鄭光廷教授出席開幕活動並致辭。一眾來自埃及、泰國、保加利亞、瑞士、巴基斯坦等國家及地區的學員嘉賓,以及負責擔任培訓班導師的科大土木及環境工程學系講座教授兼太空科學與技術研究院院長蘇慧教授、聯席院長兼機械及航空航天工程學系于宏宇教授及高揚教授亦出席了開幕活動。 中國科學院空間應用工程與技術中心副主任(主持工作)王強在致辭時表示,首屆培訓班於北京舉辦,本屆特意選址香港,意在充分發揮粵港澳大灣區核心引擎的區位優勢、開放科研環境及跨境合作平台作用。他強調,香港作為聯通內地與世界的橋梁,將為「一帶一路」沿線及更多國家參與者創造合作新契機,推動空間科技成果全球共享。

HKUST Holds Flag-raising Ceremony to Celebrate the 28th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held a flag-raising ceremony on campus this morning to commemorate the 28th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. Officiating guests included Mr. QIN Hong, Counsellor of the Policy Research Department of the Commissioner’s Office of China’s Foreign Ministry in the HKSAR; Dr. John CHAN, HKUST Pro-Chancellor; Ms. Edith SHIH, HKUST Council Vice-Chairperson; Prof. Nancy IP, HKUST President; and other senior management.  Took place at the center of the HKUST Piazza for the first time, the ceremony was attended by over 200 students, alumni, and their families, with an additional 30,000 people joining the livestreaming online. The audience witnessed the solemn moment as the National Flag, Regional Flag, and University Flag were hoisted in front of the Red Bird Sundial Sculpture, symbolizing aspirations for Hong Kong's continued prosperity and stability under the nation's support.

The inaugural Gala Dinner of the HKUST Foundation recently took place amid an outpouring of kindness and generosity—hosting over 200 distinguished guests of academia, business, and philanthropy. The gala dinner marked the official launch of the HKUST Foundation, which aims to foster a greater sense of belonging among the University community while broadening its fundraising network for strategic development. Amidst the glitz and glamor, what truly stole the limelight was the auction of two exclusive leather jackets autographed by NVIDIA’s Founder and CEO, Dr. Jensen HUANG. These two jackets raised a staggering total of over HK$20 million to support strategic development at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST).
