Exploring AI’s Next Frontier: HKUST and World Economic Forum Convene Young Global Leaders
From December 1 to 5, 2025, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), in partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF), hosted the 2025 edition of the prestigious Young Global Leaders Education Module.The flagship event, themed “Our AI Future is Now: Reflections and Next Directions,” brought together 35 influential young leaders from 24 countries and regions for an intensive exploration of artificial intelligence’s societal and economic implications. The program also served as a key milestone ahead of HKUST’s upcoming 35th Anniversary, underscoring the University’s commitment to fostering innovation-led global impact.

To empower global citizens to build a safer, more resilient world, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) joins hands with Stanford University as a founding partner to launch the Global Sustainability Challenge.This competition represents a powerful collaboration between sustainability and education experts. By pooling experience and expertise, the competition was shaped by founding partners from prestigious institutions as founding universities, such as Imperial College London, Zhejiang University, Technical University of Munich, and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

HKUST and Fudan Elevate Strategic Collaboration to Build Global Hub for New Engineering Innovation
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Fudan University today announced a significant expansion of their strategic partnership aimed at establishing a global academic exchange and innovation hub in new engineering disciplines. The enhanced collaboration was unveiled at the inaugural Xianghui International Frontiers Forum, held at HKUST’s Clear Water Bay Campus.
The event brought together over 200 top scientists, young scholars, and institutional leaders from nearly 10 countries and regions. A key highlight was the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on academic exchange and talent cultivation between Fudan University’s Xianghui Institute and the College of Smart Materials and Future Energy, and HKUST’s School of Engineering.

HKUST and Nazarbayev University to Launch Asia’s First Joint Degree in Eurasian Business New Partnership Strengthens HKUST’s Commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative and “Study in Hong Kong” Campaign
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology today announced its School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) and Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Business (NUGSB) in Kazakhstan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer a joint Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program in Eurasian business. This pioneering partnership program, the first of its kind in Asia, was officially launched at the 10th Belt and Road Summit, highlighting a shared commitment to advancing higher education cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Institute for Emerging Market Studies, EY1 and Golden Age Foundation have jointly announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to officially activate the development of the “Smart Ecosystem for the Silver Population” in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). This initiative aims to promote the development of the region’s elderly care industry. The signing ceremony, held during the “BOC Life 10th Golden Age Expo and Summit”, was witnessed by Mr. Ho Kai Ming, JP, Under Secretary for Labour and Welfare of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

HKUST, Crystal Group, and HKRITA Signed Framework Agreement
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has signed a tripartite framework agreement with global apparel manufacturer Crystal International Group Limited (Crystal Group) and the Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA) to integrate advanced artificial intelligence (AI) throughout the textile production process. By developing industry-specific large language model Textile-GPT for textiles, the collaboration aims to enhance intelligent design, optimize production process, streamline supply chain management, automate quality inspections, and foster innovation in smart wearables.
