The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) president Prof. Nancy IP shared her vision for sustainability and holistic education at the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Annual Presidents’ Meeting 2023 on June 27. Themed “From Invention to Implementation – Solutions for a Sustainable Future,” the APRU meeting focused on innovative ideas and strategies to achieve goals, including carbon neutrality and the adoption of green technologies.
Prof. Ip participated in a panel discussion entitled “Educating Future Generations for Planet Thought Leadership” moderated by Mr. Eric CHAN, Chief Public Mission Officer of Cyberport. Co-panelists included President Bundhit EUA-ARPORN from Chulalongkorn University; President Naoshi SUGIYAMA from Nagoya University; President HO Teck-Hua from Nanyang Technological University; Vice-Chancellor Dawn FRESHWATER from The University of Auckland and President Carol L. FOLT from University of Southern California. Joining university leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region, Prof. Ip emphasized the importance of partnership and collaboration to create a more sustainable future.
