The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Executives' Meeting from November 7 to 10, 2023 as the Executive President of AUA for 2023-2024. This significant gathering brought together thought leaders and representatives from 15 renowned Asian higher education institutions, sparking insightful discussions on shaping the future of higher education. 

 

Dr. the Hon Christine CHOI Yuk-lin, Secretary for Education of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, honored the event with her attendance. She presided over the “Asian Universities Alliance limited” plaque-unveiling ceremony, signifying strong governmental endorsement for the advancement of education. The opening of 'The Splendor of Asian Cultural Heritage' photography exhibition was another highlight, offering attendees a visual feast of Asia's cultural wealth. The event wrapped up with a cultural excursion to the iconic Hong Kong Palace Museum, featuring Chinese art and culture as well as art and treasures from other parts of the world. 

 

In the role as Executive President of AUA, HKUST will be working closely with fellow member institutions to foster academic and research excellence, strengthen regional collaboration and expand the impact of Asian universities.
