The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Prof. WANG Yang chaired the 55th Board of Directors Meeting and 30th Annual General Meeting of the Association of East Asian Research Universities (AEARU) at the University of Macau on September 27, 2024. This significant event convened distinguished delegates from 15 leading East Asian institutions, enhancing regional collaboration.

During the "Research Collaboration in East Asian Universities" workshop, senior leaders from Fudan University, Tohoku University, University of Macau, and Yonsei University showcased their institutions' research excellence and global perspectives. The discussions were particularly meaningful as they marked a vibrant resurgence of collaborative activities following a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The meetings were instrumental in facilitating dialogues about the future directions of research and fostering multilateral cooperation within the alliance. As a leader in the alliance, HKUST will continue to champion impactful research partnerships that accelerate discovery and propel the region’s progress.
