Salute to the Pioneers: Long Service Veterans Build Legacy of Devotion
Generations of faculty and staff who have devoted time and effort to strengthening HKUST’s legacy are remembered through the Long Service Award.
The Long Service Award embodies HKUST’s “can-do” spirit and champions veteran staff members’ lasting contribution to the University, Hong Kong and the nation, laying a firm foundation for progress in academic and social life.
This year, 149 staff members who devoted the prime of their professional lives to HKUST were named in this Hall of Fame. It is especially unique that 28 veterans have been recognized for their 35 years of service in HKUST’s 35th Anniversary celebration.
Of the 28 colleagues recognized for their 35 years of service, Prof. Dit Yan YEUNG, Chair Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, was the first faculty member to reach this milestone. In addition, 91 staff members were recognized for 30 years of service, whilst 30 colleagues were recognized for 20 years of service.
Prof. Nancy IP, HKUST President, congratulated all award recipients for reaching this key career milestone.
“This year is a particularly special one for us as we celebrate the 35th Anniversary of our founding. This milestone offers a timely opportunity to reflect on our remarkable journey and to honor those who have been part of our story,” Prof. Ip said.
As the ceremony drew to a close, Prof. Ip reiterated the University's heartfelt thanks to these long-serving staff members.
“You are the cornerstone of our community, leaving a lasting mark on HKUST. Together, I am entirely confident that we will continue to ascend to new pinnacles of global excellence,” she said.
