On April 26, Erhu Master GUO Gan presented the Guo Gan and His Friends International Concert, a world-class musical feast featuring an ensemble of nine renowned musicians from France, Belgium, Mongolia, Switzerland, and Tunisia.

While honoring the roots of Chinese heritage, Guo Gan bridged East and West, and tradition and modernity, as his erhu conversed seamlessly with an array of instruments, including the piano, violin, guitar, bass, bandoneon (button concertina), saz (long-necked lute), and morin khuur (horse-head fiddle).

The key takeaway from the "HKUST Industry Engagement Day – AI + Medicine: The Future of Intelligent Healthcare" was that AI and medical innovation will substantially reshape healthcare in the coming years, particularly through advances in data analysis and technology.

This Industry Engagement Day (IED) event, which attracted 150+ faculty members, students, alumni, and industry partners, took place on April 28 at the Kaisa Group Lecture Theater of the HKUST Jockey Club Institute for Advanced Study.

In celebration of HKUST’s 35th Anniversary, the HKUST Talent Quest transformed the campus into a dazzling arena of talent expression. More than a competition, it was a unifying platform for our vibrant community, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

The journey began with over 70 show-stopping auditions in the first and second rounds. This initial batch of entrants was whittled down to 12 finalists who displayed an extraordinary range of talent at the Grand Finale held at Shaw Auditorium on May 6. 

Teamwork and national identity feature strongly in the annual Flag-Raising Competition on National Security Education Day, organized by the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, according to the award-winning HKUST students. 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Atrium buzzed with infectious excitement, laughter, and energy as the HKUST community gathered on April 10 for Fun Day 2026. 

This year’s Fun Day served as a vibrant celebration of the University’s 35th Anniversary, motivating students, staff, alumni, and friends to step away from their desks to play games, connect, and recharge. 

Through team-based games designed to spark new friendships, Fun Day provided an entertaining space for the entire HKUST community to bond, unwind, and celebrate as one. 

This March, the immensely talented cast and production team behind this year’s community musical, Carousel, shone a spotlight on HKUST’s dedication to fostering a vibrant arts culture on campus.

Presented by the Shaw Auditorium Unit and co-directed by Dr. Isaac DROSCHA, Senior Lecturer in the Division of Humanities, and Ms. Mandy PETTY, a renowned choreographer, the show represents a cultural blend of classic Broadway musical staged at HKUST.

In a powerful demonstration of community spirit, HKUST is encouraging the campus community to mark our 35th Anniversary by donating blood throughout the celebratory year.

The 35th Anniversary blood donation drive reflects HKUST’s longstanding spirit of mutual care and commitment to giving back to society.

The blood donation drive kicked off at a ceremony titled “35 for Life: Every Drop Counts, Every Life Matters” on March 5 at the University’s Clear Water Bay campus.

Our alumni community joined “The opening ceremony of the Alumni Commons and A Feast of Togetherness – Poon Choi Party.” on January 17, 2026 (Saturday) on the Clear Water Bay campus at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The event was co-organized with the HKUST Alumni Association and the HKUST Convocation.
