HKUST Deepens Collaboration with Columbia University
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) delegation embarked on a strategic visit to Columbia University on July 18, solidifying the bond between two institutions dedicated to academic excellence and impactful research.
Led by Vice-President for Research and Development, Prof. Tim CHENG, the delegation included Prof. Bert SHI, Special Advisor to the Vice-President for Research and Development and Director of Center for Aging Science, and Prof. Guojun BU, Head of Division of Life Science. The team engaged in productive discussions with Columbia’s senior leadership and teams, including Prof. Jeannette WING, Executive Vice President for Research; Prof. Sharon SPUTZ, Associate Vice President for Research Initiatives and Development; and Prof. CHANG Shih-Fu, Dean of Columbia Engineering. They explored collaborative opportunities in the field of aging, biomedical informatics and sustainability.
Following the visit, the delegation hosted an alumni gathering, where more than 20 HKUST graduates based in New York City gathered to reconnect and learn about the university’s latest updates. This dual focus on global collaboration and community engagement underscores HKUST’s dedication to fostering meaningful connections on a global scale.
