What do the eggs of sea urchins, car exhaust, sticky tape, and risk and reward have in common? Each sparked a discovery that secured a Nobel Prize.Four Nobel laureates shared fascinating stories from their decades of research experience at a fireside chat with over 400 students, faculty, and members of the public. From December 1 to 5, 2025, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), in partnership with the World Economic Forum (WEF), hosted the 2025 edition of the prestigious Young Global Leaders Education Module.The flagship event, themed “Our AI Future is Now: Reflections and Next Directions,” brought together 35 influential young leaders from 24 countries and regions for an intensive exploration of artificial intelligence’s societal and economic implications. The program also served as a key milestone ahead of HKUST’s upcoming 35th Anniversary, underscoring the University’s commitment to fostering innovation-led global impact.

HKUST Welcomes the Reappointment of Dr. the Hon. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing as Court Chairman
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is delighted to note that Dr. the Hon. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing has been reappointed as Chairman of the University Court by Mr. John LEE Ka-Chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Chancellor of HKUST. The appointment, effective from March 6, 2026, is for a term of three years. Under Dr. Liao's leadership, the Court will continue to offer valuable insights for the University's development and support its fundraising efforts to strengthen HKUST's international influence and academic leadership.
