HKUST and Shanghai SSCI Sign Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement
Recently, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd. (Shanghai SSCI) held a signing ceremony for a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement to explore comprehensive collaboration in areas such as fund cooperation, technology transfer, and talent cultivation.
At the signing ceremony, Dr. Timothy SZE, Director of the Office of Mainland Affairs at HKUST, and Ms. LU Wen, Party Committee Member and Vice President of Shanghai SSCI, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties. Prof. GUO Yike, HKUST’s Provost, and Dr. DAI Minmin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shanghai State-owned Capital Investment Co., Ltd., attended the event and witnessed the signing.
Under the agreement, both parties will leverage their respective strengths to promote institutional interaction between Shanghai and Hong Kong, further deepening their collaboration. HKUST will utilize its platform advantages in international trade and commerce to help Shanghai enterprises expand into overseas markets under the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) via Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Shanghai SSCI will actively support HKUST ecosystem enterprises and innovation technology teams in entering the Shanghai market, integrating into domestic supply chains and innovation chains, and fostering coordinated industrial development between Shanghai and Hong Kong.
In terms of specific cooperation, the two parties will collaborate in depth on activities such as innovation and entrepreneurship forums, technology roadshows, and innovation bootcamps, building a platform for technology transfer and creating an ecosystem for scientific and technological achievements. By jointly establishing mechanisms for discovering, connecting, and converting research outcomes, they aim to enhance their comprehensive service capabilities for early-stage technology innovation investment and financing projects, boosting industrial agglomeration and growth for both parties. Additionally, by focusing on university-industry collaboration, HKUST will draw on its robust experience in providing quality education resources and cultivating technological talent to explore innovative models of talent education and training, providing strong human capital support for the development of technology innovation systems and industrial upgrades in Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The signing of this strategic cooperation framework agreement lays a solid foundation for deep collaboration between HKUST and Shanghai SSCI in the field of technology innovation and industrialization. Moving forward, the two parties will seize this opportunity to further deepen their cooperation, contributing to the development of technology innovation systems and industrial upgrades in Shanghai and Hong Kong, while advancing the national science and technology innovation strategy.
