The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) warmly welcomed a delegation from Ghent University, Belgium to the campus on June 7. The visiting group comprised faculty from Ghent's main campus, Global Campus in South Korea, and Ghent University East Asia Platform in Beijing.

Joining the university delegation was Mr. Siegfried VERHEIJKE, Commercial and Economic Consul from the Consulate General of Belgium in Hong Kong. Together, they engaged in a fruitful exchange with HKUST's Prof. George YUAN, Faculty Representative from the School of Engineering, and Prof. Kristiaan NEYTS, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Displays and Optoelectronics Technologies (SKL of ADT). The meeting allowed for rich discussion of the latest developments at both universities and exploration of potential collaborations spanning student exchanges to joint research initiatives.

The delegation then toured HKUST’s advanced research facilities for innovative and impactful solutions to addressing global challenges at our SKL of ADT and Biosciences Central Research Facility.

This visit marks an important step in strengthening HKUST's partnerships in Belgium, a leading European Union member. It opens new avenues for exchange of ideas, talents and technologies with Belgian institutions as HKUST continues expending its global network.
