HKUST Enhances Global Educational Ties with Australian Institutions

The Vice President for Institutional Advancement of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Prof. WANG Yang, along with Dean of Engineering, Prof. Hong LO and Head of Global Engagement and Greater China Affairs Ms. Yvonne LI embarked on a visit to Sydney and Brisbane to engage with partners and stakeholders in Australia. 

Prof. Wang participated in the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) Senior International Leaders' Meeting themed ‘One Pacific’ on September 25. The meeting provided a platform for representatives from 40 universities across Asia-Pacific to discuss about pressing challenges facing by the Asia-Pacific countries and explore the potential solutions. 

HKUST co-hosted a seminar with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (HKETO) on September 26, in related to the topic of smartcities, AI, and innovation, with Prof. Hong LO as the keynote speaker.

In their continued quest to reinforce HKUST's international collaborations, the senior management team held discussions with The University of Sydney (USYD), the University of New South Wales (UNSW), the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and the University of Queensland (UQ). HKUST has reached academic exchange agreement with UTS and QUT by the signing of Memorandums of Understanding with these 2 institutions. These in-person interactions served to strengthen the academic and research collaborations, enhance and broaden HKUST's global network and presence. 

HKUST's commitment to nurturing a strong international community was concluded with an alumni reunion in Sydney, bringing together past graduates and reinforcing lifelong connections.
