"Improving Patient Journey"-Corporate Project Sponsored by Union Medical Healthcare
With the support of Union Medical Healthcare, 2018 spring term's Corporate Project challenged students to improve patient journey at General Practice (GP) clinics. The project aims at providing students with hands-on experience in solving complex real business problems and polishing their advanced skills in design thinking and executive communication.

HKUST Receives HK$100 million Donation from Lo Kwee Seong Foundation to Advance Frontiers of Knowledge of Life Science
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a HK$100 million donation from Lo Kwee Seong Foundation in support of the University’s frontier research in life science.
The magnanimous gift will not only allow HKUST to purchase a state-of-the-art cryo-electron microscope (cryo-EM) – a technology that has recently revolutionized the field of structural biology, it also helps the University establish an endowment fund named “Lo Kwee-Seong Research Fund” for the nurturing of research talent. In appreciation of the Foundation’s benevolent support, the University named the laboratory section of its Academic Building “Lo Kwee-Seong Building”, where the Cryo-EM machine will be housed.

Print vs Electronic: Academic Reading Preferences @HKUST
In September 2017, the Library conducted the Academic Reading Format International Study (ARFIS), an international project investigating students? attitudes and behaviors in regards to academic reading. So far, 32 different countries and territories have participated.

HKUST Enhances Promotion on STEM Education Launches STEM@HKUST One–stop Online Platform
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is enhancing its efforts in promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education in Hong Kong. HKUST Scientists Rebuild Synapse-like Machineries to Unveil its Formation and Regulatory Mechanism Paving Ways for Diagnosis and Early Intervention of Mental Disorders
A research team led by Prof Mingjie Zhang, Kerry Holdings Professor of Science in the Division of Life Scienceat The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), has employed a novel biochemical reconstitution approach to show how proteins in postsynaptic density (PSD) are regulated in synapses to process and transmit brain signals, which may provide insights into further research on early detection and intervention of mental disorders such as autism and schizophrenia.
