HKUST Enhances collaboration with Leading University in Belarus

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today signed an agreement with the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR), a premier university in the Republic of Belarus famous for its expertise in computer science, radioelectronics and telecommunications. The agreement is to develop cooperation and academic contacts between the two universities.

The agreement was jointly signed at a ceremony today, with Chair Professor Hoi Sing KWOK, Director of the Center for Display Research, representing HKUST, and Rector Mikhail Batura for BSUIR.

In 2002, Prof KWOK had signed an agreement with the Rector of BSUIR over a joint research activity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof Kwok said HKUST felt honored by this collaboration with a leading university from Belarus. The new agreement, effective immediately, for five years, will commit the two universities to an exchange of students as well as collaborations in joint projects in nanomaterials and nanoelectronics.

About the Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics 
The Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) was founded in March 15, 1964. In the national system of education of the Republic of Belarus, BSUIR plays a leading role in the preparation of the engineering and scientific staff in the field of computer science, radioelectronics and telecommunications. Today BSUIR is a large and leading scientific and educational center in Belarus.
