The Hong Kong Jockey Club Atrium buzzed with infectious excitement, laughter, and energy as the HKUST community gathered on April 10 for Fun Day 2026.
This year’s Fun Day served as a vibrant celebration of the University’s 35th Anniversary, motivating students, staff, alumni, and friends to step away from their desks to play games, connect, and recharge.
Through team-based games designed to spark new friendships, Fun Day provided an entertaining space for the entire HKUST community to bond, unwind, and celebrate as one.
The event featured an expanded lineup of interactive games, such as Air Hockey Showdowns, where players skillfully used pushers to strike the puck into the opponent’s goal. The Flip Battles posed a high-speed agility challenge, as players raced to flip pillows to their designated color within 35 seconds.
At the Button Smash Challenge booth, competitors constantly rewrote the leaderboard while cheers and laughter could be heard near the Mini Golf and Shake & Strike booths as participants aimed for a perfect shot to clinch top prizes.
Between games, guests explored the HKUST Fun Facts Wall and joined a lively quiz. Featuring fascinating facts about campus landmarks and daily life, the wall offered a journey to discover the University’s culture and heritage. It was a hit among students, who enjoyed learning about their campus in a playful and engaging way while refuelling with snacks, drinks, and exclusive souvenirs.
“The Fun Facts Wall was my favorite part!” a student shared. “I was surprised to discover that our university had nearly been built in Tuen Mun. If so, we might not have had so much joy or such beautiful scenery as we have here in Sai Kung.”
The highlight of the day was the special appearance of our beloved mascot, Red Birdie, in a special birthday costume to honor the 35th anniversary. Joyful crowds gathered to greet, pose for photos, and capture shared memories.
Attracting over 3,000 participants, Fun Day 2026 perfectly reflected our cherished spirit of “work hard play hard”. once again Through laughter and play, the event not only enriched our community’s life, but also fostered a supportive environment where unity and happiness go hand in hand.
