HKUST Tops Local Universities in RAISe+

HKUST secured a leading position in the third round of the Research, Academic and Industry Sectors One Plus (RAISe+) Scheme, with seven projects recommended for funding.

This brings the University’s total to 19 projects, the highest among local universities, reaffirming its leadership in translating research into real-world applications and bridging the gap between academia and industry.

The seven funded projects cover a diverse range of disciplines including health and medical sciences, AI computing, new materials and new energy, and space technology. These initiatives are recognized for their clear pathways for commercialization and ability to address pressing clinical and industrial requirements.

Prof. Tim Cheng Kwang-Ting, Vice-President for Research and Development, noted that HKUST’s comprehensive support, ranging from robust resources to interdisciplinary, has been instrumental in driving knowledge transfer, entrepreneurship, and industry engagement.

He remarked that the University’s success exemplifies its strong capacity to translate research into real-world impact and its contribution to Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem.

Looking ahead, Prof. Cheng emphasized that HKUST will maintain close collaborations with the government and industry to transform innovations into practical solutions, contributing to Hong Kong’s evolution into an international innovation and technology hub.
