Looking Ahead

Wastewater treatment is a critical issue for global environmental protection and public health. Researchers from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have recently achieved a major breakthrough by discovering a novel oxidant-free electrocatalytic mechanism, opening up a new direction for water purification technologies.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has received a generous donation of 35 calligraphy works from the Ode to Chinese Characters series by renowned contemporary Chinese calligraphy master Mr. SU Shishu. The collection has been showcased in an exhibition at the Lee Shau Kee Library from August 1 to September 7, 2026.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is co-leading the development of a Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Toolkit with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA). The initiative is designed to help banks address the potential challenges that advances in quantum computing may pose to existing encryption technologies and to prepare for the transition to post-quantum cryptography.
