HKUST's Quality of Education and Strong Sense of Community Commended by Quality Assurance Council
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) welcomes the Report from the Quality Assurance Council (QAC) which notes that in its short history, HKUST has achieved a strong reputation and has a staff that is committed to supporting the further development of the University. The Panel is confident that with its strong quality assurance culture and robust processes, the University will continue to enhance the quality of its teaching and learning.
The University is pleased that the Panel commends the articulation of graduate attributes through ABC LIVE: Academic Excellence, Broad-based Education, Competencies and Capacity Building, Leadership and Teamwork, International Outlook, Vision and an Orientation to the Future, and Ethical Standards and Compassion; and the implementation of these attributes as a foundation for undergraduate programs.

HKUST Appoints Prof Nancy Ip as Dean of Science
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) announced the appointment of Prof Nancy Ip as Dean of Science with effect from 1 February 2011.
Prof Nancy Ip, Chair Professor in the Division of Life Science and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Molecular Neuroscience, has been appointed Dean of Science based on a competitive world-wide search and a very rigorous selection process.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) conferred honorary doctorates on five academic and social leaders at its 18th Congregation today (Friday).

Mastermind behind the Animated Version of Chinese Painting Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival to Share Creative Process with HKUST Community
Entitled "River of Wisdom - Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival", the exhibition currently being displayed at the Asia World-Expo in Hong Kong International Airport received overwhelming response. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is honored to invite Mr Yu Zheng, Project Director of the "Animated Version of the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival" and currently Director of the Exhibition Business Department of Crystal Digital Technology Co. Ltd (Shanghai) to give a presentation on the "Interpretation of Chinese Cultural Masterpieces through Modern Technology".

HKUST to Confer Honorary Doctorates on Eminent Academics and Leaders
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) will be conferring honorary doctorates on five eminent academics and leaders in recognition of their outstanding contributions and achievements. Dr SY Chung, Pro-Chancellor of HKUST, will officiate at the conferment ceremony on 12 November 2010 (Friday) at HKUST’s 18th Congregation.
The five recipients are:

Mr LO Ka Chung – Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa

HKUST Holds First Entrepreneurship Day
The Entrepreneurship Center of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has held its first Entrepreneurship Day to promote entrepreneurship at HKUST and to facilitate networking among seasoned industry professionals and entrepreneurs-to-be.
Nearly 300 seasoned and aspiring entrepreneurs filled the lecture theater for the full-day event on Saturday, 30 October 2010, and some even had to move to an adjacent theater where the event was broadcast live.
“This Entrepreneurship Day is not just about entrepreneurship education, but also networking. We will form our own HKUST Entrepreneurship Community, in which students, faculty, mentors, investors and industry partners come together to form a vibrant motive force for innovative business,” said HKUST Provost Prof Wei Shyy in his welcoming speech.
