ENVR Field Trip to Beijing 2017
21 students of the MSc Program in Environmental Science, Policy and Management and BSc Program in Environmental Management and Technology, led by Prof. Arthur LAU and Dr. N. T. LAU of the Division of Environment, visited Beijing from 8 to 13 January 2017 to get first-hand experience and understand the approaches that various public and private sectors are adapting to handle the environmental problems in Beijing.

Nobel Laureate Professor Hiroshi Amano Speaks on the Development of LEDs at the Last Talk of HKUST 25th Anniversary Distinguished Speakers Series
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the last round of its Distinguished Speakers Series today - a talk series launched over a year ago to celebrate the University’s 25th anniversary. Prof Hiroshi Amano, a renowned physicist and engineer in semiconductor technology, marked the 9th Nobel laureate and the 27th who spoke for the series hosted by corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and key financial policy shapers around the world.

HKUST Jockey Club Hall Opens to Promote Holistic Education and Eco-friendliness
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) staged an opening ceremony yesterday for HKUST Jockey Club Hall – a new residential building at Tseung Kwan O that provides 512 bed spaces for undergraduate students. The off-campus hostel was named after The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) for its generous donation of HK$33 million to help undergraduate students with the opportunity to stay in a student hostel for at least one year of their course.

Health Tech for Seniors
2017 Winter International Technology & Management Business Plan Competition on "Health Tech for Seniors" was hosted by HKUST in January 2017. 34 students from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), University of Bayreuth (Germany), and University of Sao Paulo (Brazil) flew to Hong Kong to join 14 students of HKUST Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management and form mixed teams in competing for the best business plan in health-tech services and products for seniors.
