The University of Strathclyde delegation engages in meaningful discussions with HKUST leadership.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) President Prof. Nancy IP, along with key members of the senior leadership including Provost Prof. GUO Yike and Vice President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang, warmly received a delegation from the University of Strathclyde (UoS), United Kingdom, led by Prof. Sir Jim MCDONALD, Principal and Vice-Chancellor. The visit highlighted the dynamic and innovative collaborations spanning various disciplines between HKUST and UoS.

HKUST and UoS have a significant partnership built on a shared commitment to excellence, with international collaboration at the core of our mission. The visit seeks to deepen the existing strategic collaboration between the two universities to establish sustainable joint programs in both education and research across several key areas, both academic and industry. HKUST is strongly committed to this international partnership, which is vital for addressing major global challenges in fields such as sustainability, life sciences, public health, and emerging technologies.

The delegation engaged in meaningful discussions with HKUST leadership that explored current joint projects and future interdisciplinary research directions, including climate change, ocean science, aging, green tech, and sustainable innovations. PhD exchange programs between the institutions were also covered.

The delegation then toured HKUST's advanced facilities, including the Lee Shau Kee Library, highlighting HKUST's commitment to fostering innovative research and education. 

These dialogues during the visit have significantly reinforced the strategic relationship between the two institutions, fostering greater innovation, global impact, and enhancement of student mobility. HKUST is dedicated to deepening impactful collaboration with UoS that will pave the way for innovative progress and academic excellence together.
