HKUST organizes an alumni reunion for Tokyo-based alumni to reconnect.

Provost of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), Prof. GUO Yike and Yvonne Li, Head of Global Engagement & Greater China Affairs, attended the APRU Senior International Leaders’ Meeting at Keio University in Tokyo from October 9 - 11, 2024. The event gathered 70 senior representatives from 44 universities across 16 regions, fostering a rich environment for dialogues and collaboration on pressing educational challenges.

In his keynote on “Innovating Higher Education through Creative Technologies”, Prof. Guo discussed the transformative integration of art and AI in education and artistic creation, stimulating discussions on AI’s potential in educational advancements. Following his presentation, Prof. Guo participated in discussion with other senior leaders to further explore the potential of AI in education. The sharing and panel discussion underscored the critical role of educators in achieving cognitive breakthroughs in AI. 

Additionally, Prof. Guo and Yvonne engaged in productive discussions with academic leaders from Keio University, Waseda University and Kyushu University, to explore potential collaborative ventures focusing on interdisciplinary studies and program innovation, highlighting a mutual commitment to tackling global challenges through academic cooperation.

During the Tokyo trip, an alumni reunion was organized on October 10 for Tokyo-based alumni to reconnect and receive updates on HKUST’s latest developments and new initiatives.

This trip significantly highlighted HKUST’s commitment to advancing AI Education and fostering engagement within global academic networks.
