The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted a visit from the Fondation de France (FDF), led by Mrs. Axelle DAVEZAC, CEO of the organization, along with Mr. Frédéric THÉRET, Director of Marketing and Development, and Mr. Julien-Loic GARIN, Director of Fondation de France Asia. FDF, the largest philanthropic organization in France, is dedicated to nurturing private philanthropy and foundations. The organization unites donors, founders, and volunteers to support an impressive 8,000 charitable causes each year.

Following the meeting at FDF Headquarters in Paris in October 2023, the visit served as the opportunity to reconnect with the FDF team. Prof. Yang WANG, Vice-President for Institutional Advancement of HKUST, and Prof. YEUNG King Lun, Director of the France-HKUST Innovation Hub, met the delegation and discussed the shared missions, strategic initiatives, and exciting plans for collaborations which include student exchanges and research projects aimed at addressing global challenges. Mrs. Davezac also engaged in an exclusive dialogue, moderated by HKUST’s French Faculty Prof. Veronique LAFON-VINAIS, with HKUST faculty and students. During the dialogue, Mrs. Davezac provided a deep dive into the philanthropic work of FDF and the ecosystem FDF has cultivated.

HKUST shall collaborate closely with FDF to launch meaningful initiatives, promote a more balanced, sustainable, and inclusive world.
