The HKUST x France Panel "Green Finance: The Way Forward" was a resounding success, attracting a full house of students, alumni, and industry practitioners at the campus on March 22. The event, organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the French Chamber in Hong Kong, and Société Générale under the framework of the France – HKUST Innovation Hub, showcased the latest trends in green and sustainable finance in the region.
The Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau Ms. Christile DRULHE and HKUST Vice President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang kickstarted the event by delivering the welcome remarks, followed by the expert panel featuring Prof. Véronique LAFON-VINAIS, Program Co-Director of BSc in Sustainable and Green Finance at HKUST Business School, Mr. Ronald YOUNG, Head of Sustainable Finance Asia at Société Générale, Ms. Kristy WONG, Associate Director of ESG Investment Specialist at Amundi Asset Management and Prof. Quentin MOREAU, Assistant Professor of the Division of Environment and Sustainability at HKUST. The discussion explored the strengths and limits of the tools available to make finance achieve sustainable goals.
In addition to the insightful panel discussion, students also had the opportunity to connect with industry professionals from six French financial institutions, including Société Générale, BNP Paribas, Crédit Agricole CIB, Natixis Corporate and Investment Banking, Amundi Asset Management, and AXA Investment Managers. These interactions provided valuable insights into pursuing studies in France and offered a glimpse into the promising career prospects within the green and sustainable finance industry.
