Following the undergraduate student exchange agreement signed between Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Tongji University last year, the two institutions further explored in-depth collaboration in talent development, scientific research, and international partnerships.
HKUST president Prof. Nancy IP, Provost Prof. GUO Yike, Dean of HKUST Fok Ying Tung Graduate School Prof. Charles NG, Dean of Engineering Prof. Hong LO, Dean of Business & Management Prof. TAM Kar Yan and Associate Vice-President (Global Engagement & Communications) Ms. Daisy CHAN had productive discussions with the Secretary of the CPC Committee of Tongji University Mr. FANG Shou’en and his delegation on April 9. The two universities reached consensus on leveraging regional advantages to promote wider and deeper collaboration in talent cultivation, scientific research, and industry-academia integration to serve high-quality technological development. Agreements on joint training programs with the School of Engineering and School of Science, as well as with the School of Business and Management have been signed. The two institutions also explored a "1+1+1" partnership model to collaborate with quality international partners from both universities and jointly expand the global network.
The delegation also visited the Materials Characterization and Preparation Facility, State Key Laboratory of Advanced Displays and Optoelectronics Technologies, Shaw Auditorium and Lee Shau Kee Library.
This monumental exchange has laid a solid foundation for cooperation between HKUST and Tongji University. With the shared aspirations to advance talent development and research innovation, the two institutions will continue to elevate collaboration for the benefit of the whole society.
