HKUST Joins APRU APEC University Leaders Forum 2025 Shaping AI-Driven Education
Embracing the transformative power of AI in education, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) recently participated in the APRU APEC University Leaders Forum 2025 on Jeju Island, South Korea, to contribute to the future of learning. Hosted by Pusan National University from May 12-13, the Forum brought together more than 120 leaders from academia, AI, policy, and industry sectors to delve into the impact of generative AI on higher education and advocate for its responsible and inclusive integration.
HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike joined a panel session titled “The Future of Universities with AI,” Prof. Guo, alongside representatives from University of Malaya, VinUniversity, and Pusan University of Foreign Studies, to explore the transformative potential of AI in teaching, learning, and research. He highlighted the pivotal role of universities as vibrant learning communities that nurture growth and excellence among educators and students.
HKUST is committed to incorporating AI within its educational framework, aiming to enhance outcomes and prepare students to address global challenges for a progressive future. The forum underscored the evolving role of universities in an AI-driven era, emphasizing interdisciplinary and international collaboration.
