HKUST Bridges Connection for Joint Research Opportunities with Koç University
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) warmly received Prof. Hakan ÜREY, Vice President for Research and Innovation of Koç University, on campus on May 16. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both institutions to foster collaborative research endeavors and academic partnerships.
During the visit, HKUST Dean of Engineering Prof. Hong LO engaged in meaningful discussions with Prof. Ürey on mutual strategic research area, with a focus on computer science and sustainability. Additionally, dialogues were conducted to enhance student mobility programs between the two universities, promoting a vibrant exchange of knowledge and experiences.
Following the meeting, Prof. ÜREY toured the cutting-edge Dr. Tai-chin Lo Nanosystem Fabrication Facility, a state-of-the-art research facility dedicated to the development of micro and nano devices and systems. He also visited the Digital Media Student Project Exhibition hosted by the Division of Emerging Interdisciplinary Areas (EMIA) and the Media Technology and Publishing Center (MTPC), where he engaged with student-led projects that creatively reinterpret Hong Kong’s cultural heritage through interactive digital presentations.
As leading research-intensive universities in the regions, both HKUST and Koç University are dedicated to fostering academic and research collaborations. This visit has paved the way for expanding partnerships with Belt and Road countries, opening up new avenues for deeper collaboration.
