HKUST hosts first Asian Physics Olympiad in Hong Kong
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is hosting the grand physics competition in Asia – the 17th annual Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) – for the first time in Hong Kong in the largest scale ever. This is also one of the many activities celebrating HKUST’s 25th Anniversary.

The HKUST MBA Ranks First in Asia Pacific
The MBA Program of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) has been ranked 1st in Asia Pacific and 14th globally by the Financial Times. This is the seventh consecutive year that HKUST has been ranked in the Top 15 globally; during this period, no other MBA program in the Asian-Pacific region has been ranked in the top 15 in consecutive years. Additionally, this marks the sixth time in the last seven years that the HKUST MBA Program has been ranked as the best in Asia Pacific.

Science and Business
To address the meaningful connections among the disciplines, a new interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Business (BIBU) program will be launched at HKUST in the 2016-17 academic year.
The program, jointly developed by HKUST’s School of Science and School of Business and Management, is the first undergraduate program in Hong Kong which connects Biotechnology to Business.
The interdisciplinary curriculum, which comprises about equal number of courses in science and business, equips students with a solid foundation of essential technical knowledge (life science, biotechnology) and business know-how (accounting, economics, operations management, and many others).

HKUST Signs Hosting Agreement with The International Mathematical Olympiad Hong Kong Committee Limited on the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad 2016
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed a Hosting Agreement with The International Mathematical Olympiad Hong Kong Committee Limited (IMOHKCL) to be the Host University of the 57th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).
Prof Tony F Chan, President of HKUST, said IMO is more than a Mathematics competition. “I am pleased that Hong Kong will play host to organizing the IMO again next year after it was first held in Hong Kong in 1994,” he said. “We will make good use of this opportunity to build the global reputation for Hong Kong; attract young, talented students from all over the world, as well as promote mathematics and science education - especially among young local people. No platform is more ideal than the IMO to bring these messages across to the whole world.”

Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Ranks No.2 in the World
The Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA (EMBA) program maintains its leading position in the world in this year's Financial Times EMBA global ranking. It has been ranked No.2, marking the program’s eleven consecutive years in the top three in the ranking since 2005.
In its 17th anniversary, the program is jointly offered by the School of Business and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

HKUST Hosts Coursera’s Second Annual Asia Regional Workshop
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted Coursera’s second annual Asia Regional Workshop in Hong Kong. Around 180 representatives from major Asian universities joined the three-day event (15-17 October) for vibrant sessions about Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), online and blended pedagogy, and emerging trends in higher education.
The Workshop was hosted by HKUST in collaboration with The University of Hong Kong, bringing together university officials, faculty members, instructional designers, program managers, technology specialists, and course staff from across Couresera’s partner organizations in the region. Coursera is the world’s largest open online education provider.
