HKUST Celebrates One-Year Anniversary of University Anthem with Grand Campus Sing-along and Ice-cream (Chinese Version Only)
小時候在香港街頭聽到《藍色多瑙河》,大家便會想起富豪雪糕車,一同出發尋找幸福的味道。不過今日停泊在香港科技大學(科大)賽馬會大堂的雪糕車,所播放的卻是今天剛滿「一歲」的科大校歌。校董會主席沈向洋教授、顧問委員會主席廖長城博士、校長葉玉如教授、校董會副主席楊佳錩教授、校董會成員兼校歌工作小組召集人施熙德女士及一眾校董會成員和大學管理層,更與逾百名教職員及學生齊聚校園合唱,以歌聲凝聚大學社群。
為慶祝校歌推出一周年,科大本星期舉辦一系列活動,包括校方精心準備的繽紛雪糕車。校園全日響起音樂盒旋律的科大校歌,所有科大成員只需唱出任何一句校歌歌詞,便可免費獲得雪糕一份,讓他們在繁重的學業及工作中享受一刻輕鬆的時光,並同時加深對校歌的印象和認識。大會於短短一個下午派出逾千份雪糕。
由本周一起,科大亦一連十日於賽馬會大堂設置小型展覽,介紹校歌和歌詞的靈感來源、創作過程及其背後的故事,讓大家更了解校歌蘊藏的意義和價值。
科大去年經過一輪公開徵集,匯聚校內校外的音樂才俊,推出創校三十年來首支校歌。校歌由大學社群及公眾人士攜手創作,歌詞設有粵語、普通話及英語三個版本,旨在培養成員對大學之歸屬感,體現科大的精神和核心價值。

HKUST Leads Innovation Dialogue at One Earth Sustainability Summit
HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP attended the inaugural One Earth Summit on March 25. This summit, organized by the Institute of Sustainability and Technology and co-organized by the World Economic Forum’s GAEA (Giving to Amplify Earth Action) Initiative, brought together over 100 sustainable thought leaders and 500 changemakers to engage in action-focused dialogues for achieving the net-zero, nature positive transition for the world.
Prof. Ip participated in a panel discussion on the future of sustainable technology, where she shared invaluable insights on how HKUST is driving innovation and entrepreneurship to foster scientific breakthroughs and accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies in climate and nature conservation.

HKUST Brings Together Experts in Green Finance to Explore the Way Forward
The HKUST x France Panel "Green Finance: The Way Forward" was a resounding success, attracting a full house of students, alumni, and industry practitioners at the campus on March 22. The event, organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, the French Chamber in Hong Kong, and Société Générale under the framework of the France – HKUST Innovation Hub, showcased the latest trends in green and sustainable finance in the region.

HKUST Builds an Intelligent Tomorrow with Kyoto University in Joint Symposium on Informatics
The HKUST Big Data Institute hosted the HKUST and Kyoto University Joint Symposium on Informatics on March 21, showcasing a day filled with trailblazing sharing and inspiring ideas.
With a mutual commitment to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and highlighting the significant role of informatics, the symposium brought together eminent experts from both Kyoto University and HKUST delving into pivotal areas such as artificial intelligence, data analytics and mathematics.
This symposium has established a strong base for the partnerships between the two institutions. HKUST is committed to working alongside Kyoto University to illuminate the path towards a more intelligent and interconnected tomorrow.

HKUST Strengthens Partnership with Trinity College Dublin
HKUST welcomed a delegation led by Prof. Linda DOYLE, Provost & President of Trinity College Dublin (TCD) on campus on March 20.
Prof. Doyle engaged in productive discussions with HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike, focusing on the latest developments of both institutions and exploring collaborations in multiple research areas including artificial intelligence, art and technology, and neuroscience. The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and a Student Exchange Agreement, solidifying the commitment to deepening the partnerships.
With a mutual dedication to advancing knowledge and nurturing the next generation of leaders, HKUST is excited to continue elevating collaboration with TCD to reach new heights.

HKUST & Fung Group Join Hands to Establish AI for Fashion Center in Shanghai (Chinese version only)
香港科技大學(港科大)與香港百年企業馮氏集團正式宣布達成戰略合作,未來將在港科大以及馮氏集團中國區總部——上海利豐廣場建立AI for Fashion聯合科技創新中心,共同推動人工智能技術在全球時尚産業的深入融合與創新。
馮氏集團旗下的跨國核心企業利豐,昨日聯同Vogue Business與弘毅投資,一同舉辦「時尚未來」可持續發展峰會。會上港科大首席副校長郭毅可教授與馮氏集團中國區總裁馮裕津正式簽署了戰略合作備忘錄。利豐於時尚產業的採購和供應鏈方面具有全球領導地位。
雙方將於上海利豐廣場這個匯聚時尚科技的據點,攜手建立AI for Fashion聯合科技創新中心,共同建設高質量的孵化器,搭建創新創業生態系統,爲雙方合作形成的初創企業和創新項目提供資金支持和指導。未來,該創新中心將與國際頂尖設計和藝術院校合作,共同開辦各項課程,培養具備創新思維和實踐能力的人才,創造出符合環境與社會責任最高標準的優質産品。
與此同時,上海「十四五」規劃提出構建「3+6」新型産業體系,指出要發揮人工智能産業的引領作用和大力發展時尚消費品産業集群。利豐廣場正是一座致力匯聚「人工智能+ 時尚」初創企業、創新人才以及投資者的未來時尚科技産業中心,而港科大則是擁有著世界領先研發技術及國際網絡的頂級學府。在是次合作中,雙方勢必充分發揮各自的優勢,共同爲上海和國家時尚消費品産業的高質量發展貢獻力量。

HKUST Strengthens Ties with the Network of France Universités
HKUST hosted a visit led by Prof. Dean LEWIS, the Executive Committee Vice President of France Universités and President of Université de Bordeaux, and Prof. Jean-François HUCHET, Member of the International Commission of France Universités on March 15.
Representing the French universities, France Universités is an association that brings together 116 prestigious higher education institutions and research establishments and 2 million students in France. Prof. Lewis and Prof. Huchet engaged in productive discussions with Prof. WANG Yang, HKUST Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Prof. King Lun YEUNG, Director of France-HKUST Innovation Hub to explore opportunities for amplifying global engagement efforts between France Universités and HKUST through impactful joint research initiatives and student mobility programs.

HKUST Holds Inauguration Ceremony for its First New Cornerstone Science Laboratory
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the inauguration ceremony today for the establishment of its first New Cornerstone Science Laboratory as Prof. DAI Xi, Chair Professor at the Department of Physics, has been awarded a research funding from the Tencent-initiated New Cornerstone Science Foundation. The funding will be used to conduct a five-year research project on topological materials and other areas.
Officiating guests at the ceremony were HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP, HKUST Vice-President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang, HKUST Vice-President for Research and Development Prof. Tim CHENG, HKUST Dean of Science Prof. WONG Yung-Hou, Head of HKUST’s Department of Physics Prof. WANG Jiannong, Vice Chair and Secretary of the New Cornerstone Science Foundation Ms. Rose WANG, Vice President of Public Affairs of Tencent Mr. James LI Tsz-Shu, and HKUST’s New Cornerstone Investigator Prof. Dai.
