The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Infiniti Motor Company Limited entered into a cooperation agreement yesterday, centering on the new Infiniti Performance Engineering Academy. HKUST is the sole university in Hong Kong to join this global talent search initiative, which offers top engineering students the opportunity to gain experience with Infiniti Red Bull Racing, a triple Formula One World Championship-winning team, and at Infiniti's European Technical Center in the UK. Infiniti Red Bull Racing Formula One team ambassador Mr David Coulthard, Infiniti Formula One Global Director Mr Andreas Sigl, HKUST Vice-President for Institutional Advancement Dr Eden Y Woon, and Dean of Engineering Prof Khaled Ben Letaief officiated at the agreement signing ceremony. HKUST engineering students also engaged in discussions with the Formula One team at the event.

Acknowledgment of the dedication of faculty and staff who have worked at HKUST for two decades. Congratulations and a major celebration were the order of the day for 240 members of staff and faculty in February when they shared memories of 20 years of working at HKUST at the 5th Long Service Award Ceremony. The happy occasion, attended by the President and other senior management, recognized the dedicated service of members of the University community representing all aspects of campus life, including faculty members, administrators, language instructors, safety officers, technicians, and other supporting staff. Prof Guanghao Chen invented an innovative green wastewater treatment technology known as SANI Process (殺泥技術). The technology successfully minimizes the adverse environmental impact of sewage treatment plant with reduced cost and space requirement. (From the “HKUST Science-for-Lunch” talk series)
