In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, a growing collection of videos was made to feature the remarkable community at HKUST – past and present. “Don't worry, be happy. Committed to developing an environmentally-friendly campus, HKUST, a world-class research university on science and technology, aims to take a leadership role in demonstrating and promoting sustainability to the wider community. A notable example is the seawater-cooled central chilling system adopted by HKUST from its earliest days to provide air-conditioning for the main Academic Building. This pioneering technology has since been extended to the new eight-story Cheng Yu Tung Building (CYT) by expanding the capacity of the original chiller plant to create a district cooling system, thereby maximizing efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint.

One of the first HKUST students to join the HeadStart@HKUST Program, which combines Internship, Mentorship and Fellowship, Beatrice Chan spent her internship last summer with Taiwan Public Television Service and found it gave new impetus to her personal dreams.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Atrium at HKUST was filled with the sweet sound of strings on March 23 as a group of 15 specially-trained students presented the ‘Music Dreams Come True’ concert with the support of the HKUSTSU Philharmonic Orchestra and renowned violin virtuoso Yao Jue. This delightful event was a highlight of the HKUST Arts Festival 2017 organised by The HKUST Center for the Arts, drawing an audience of close to 1,000. For many, the high spot of the evening came when HKUST President Tony F Chan, a keen guitarist, joined the orchestra to play a popular Beyond song.

Agnes Ku is a sociologist and an Associate Professor at the Division of Social Science of HKUST. She is the first faculty member who holds a solo exhibition at the HKUST Library. This exhibition features more than 20 photos in panoramic format taken by Professor Ku using a mobile phone. She is particularly interested in exploring the relations among memory, identity and cityscape.

In celebration of our 25th Anniversary, a growing collection of videos was made to feature the remarkable community at HKUST – past and present. “Having an interview with the President Woo made me think that apart from tracing my own roots, I should also look for ways to contribute to the city of Hong Kong.” Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering, Prof Johnny Sin said.

The University?s 25th birthday celebration ended in the Library with a book launch on February 27. Prometheus in the Sky, is published to commemorate the innovation and diverse accomplishments of the University in its short history.
