The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and a consortium of leading French corporations today signed a works contract and a second-phase Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Welcomed by Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the two agreements mark a significant step forward and turn the low-carbon retrofit partnership established in September 2025 into concrete action.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today announces its Net-Zero Action Plan (Action Plan), which is the first among higher education institutions in Hong Kong to have a comprehensive framework with multi-pronged strategies aimed at achieving net-zero emissions by 2045. This plan is supported by a commitment of HK$30 million earned from renewable energy generation to further accelerate research and adoption of innovative decarbonization solutions on campus.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today announced its latest commitment to being a sustainability leader in Hong Kong by launching a renewable energy project that will include the installation of up to 8,000 solar panels at over 50 locations on campus. It will be Hong Kong’s largest solar energy generation project when complete.
