國 家 科 技 部 國 際 合 作 司 與 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 今 天 於 科 技 大 學 簽 訂 合 作 意 向 書 ， 以 加 強 雙 方 在 中 醫 藥 及 其 它 領 域 的 研 發 合 作 。 合 作 意 向 書 由 國 家 科 技 部 國 際 合 作 司 靳 曉 明 司 長 ， 及 廣 州 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 有 限 公 司 董 事 長 霍 震 寰 先 生 簽 訂 ， 並 由 全 國 政 協 副 主 席 、 國 家 科 技 部 萬 鋼 部 長 、 霍 英 東 基 金 會 主 席 霍 震 霆 先 生 及 香 港 科 技 大 學 校 長 朱 經 武 教 授 作 見 證 。 根 據 合 作 意 向 書 ， 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 與 國 家 科 技 部 國 際 合 作 司 建 立 夥 伴 關 係 ， 共 同 支 援 國 際 科 技 合 作 ， 並 根 據 國 家 科 技 部 的 統 一 安 排 和 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 的 實 際 情 況 ， 以 科 技 部 牽 頭 實 施 的 《 中 醫 藥 國 際 科 技 合 作 計 畫 》 等 為 重 點 ， 扶 持 中 醫 藥 及 其 他 領 域 的 創 新 科 技 的 研 發 和 產 業 化 。 霍 英 東 集 團 於 未 來 五 年 內 ， 將 繼 續 支 持 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 開 展 與 中 醫 藥 及 其 他 領 域 的 科 學 技 術 研 究 相 關 的 硬 體 建 設 與 發 展 ， 包 括 香 港 科 技 大 學 霍 英 東 研 究 院 的 科 研 實 驗 大 樓 、 宿 舍 及 輔 助 設 施 。 目 前 ， 建 築 面 積 約 21,000 平 方 米 的 宿 舍 樓 已 開 始 施 工 ， 預 計 明 年 9 月 可 交 付 使 用 。 該 樓 建 成 後 將 可 容 納 600 人 住 宿 。 霍 英 東 研 究 院 大 樓 預 計 明 年 3 月 動 工 ， 2010 年 3 月 可 交 付 使 用 。 屆 時 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 的 總 建 築 面 積 將 達 11 萬 平 方 米 。

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has named its seafront Sports Center after the late Mr Henry Fok Ying Tung and has also erected a statue of Mr Fok at the entrance to the Sports Center. “Mr Fok was the University’s major benefactor. Thanks to his generous donation, HKUST is able to set up a graduate school in Nansha at the heart of the Pearl River Delta, and implement the programs outlined in the University’s Strategic Plan for 2005 to 2020,” said HKUST President Paul Chu. “Although Mr Fok had always preferred low profile for his philanthropic activities, the University felt obliged to recognize him as what he had done will inspire our youngsters for generations to come. He will be remembered not only for his enormous contribution to HKUST but also for his unceasing efforts in nurturing talents and promoting technology development on the Mainland and in Hong Kong,” President Chu said at the naming ceremony.

數 十 位 香 港 與 內 地 的 中 醫 藥 專 家 齊 集 在 廣 州 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 ， 舉 行 「 南 沙 中 醫 藥 國 際 化 研 討 會 」 ， 共 同 探 討 「 中 醫 藥 國 際 化 賦 予 珠 三 角 地 區 的 機 遇 與 挑 戰 」 。 此 次 會 議 由 廣 州 市 香 港 科 大 霍 英 東 研 究 院 國 家 科 技 部 國 際 科 技 合 作 基 地 ， 與 南 沙 科 技 論 壇 於 2008 年12 月 10 日 共 同 組 織 召 開 。 國 家 科 技 部 、 廣 東 省 科 技 廳 、 香 港 創 新 科 技 署 等 政 府 部 門 的 領 導 ， 以 及 香 港 中 醫 藥 管 理 委 員 會 、 國 內 外 專 家 學 者 和 企 業 界 的 代 表 共 同 探 討 了 中 醫 藥 國 際 化 的 關 鍵 問 題 ， 特 別 是 中 藥 的 品 質 控 制 及 標 準 化 。 南 沙 資 訊 科 技 園 是 霍 英 東 先 生 生 前 積 極 參 與 國 家 改 革 開 放 及 現 代 化 建 設 ， 為 促 進 珠 三 角 地 區 高 新 科 技 產 、 學 、 研 發 展 而 創 建 的 。 今 年 五 月 ， 位 於 科 技 園 內 的 廣 州 市 香 港 科 大 霍 英 東 研 究 院 ， 已 正 式 獲 得 國 家 科 技 部 授 予 的 國 際 科 技 合 作 基 地 稱 號 。 它 有 助 於 開 展 中 醫 藥 國 際 化 ， 將 中 醫 藥 這 塊 中 華 民 族 的 文 化 瑰 寶 ， 更 好 地 展 示 於 世 人 面 前 。

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology has teamed up with the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth to offer world-class developmental programs for talented youngsters worldwide. A signing ceremony was held today at HKUST to formalize the partnership between the two institutions. “The partnership between two of the world’s top institutions in the field of gifted education is an act of synergy and will play a significant role in nurturing the potential leaders of the world,” said Prof Roland Chin, Vice-President for Academic Affairs at HKUST. “We are extremely proud to shake hands with one of the very best institutions of its kind on the other side of the globe, and we trust that this bond of excellence will prevail in the years ahead,” he added.

Two professors at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) – Prof Ross Murch and Prof Qiang Yang – will be bestowed the honor of fellowship of the world’s leading professional association for the advancement of technology. Prof Murch and Prof Yang were admitted to the rank of Fellows of the IEEE for their exceptional contribution to wireless communications, and to intelligent planning, machine learning and data mining, respectively. IEEE, a global organization with 375,000 members in 160 countries, is dedicated to the fostering of technology innovation. Each year, the total number of fellowships presented is limited to 0.1% of the total voting membership. Prof Ross Murch

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) conferred honorary doctorates on five academic and social leaders at its 16th Congregation today (Friday). HKUST’s Pro-Chancellor, Sir SY Chung, presided over today’s ceremony. The five recipients of the honorary doctorates were: Dr Chan Sui-Kau, Chairman of Yangtzekiang Garment Ltd (Doctor of Social Sciences honoris causa) Prof Aaron Ciechanover, winner of Nobel Prize in Chemistry (2004) and Distinguished Research Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Doctor of Science honoris causa) Prof David Gross, winner of Nobel Prize in Physics (2004) and Frederick W.Gluck Chair in Theoretical Physics, University of California at Santa Barbara (Doctor of Science honoris causa)
