The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has received a generous donation from the Ho Iu Kwong Charity Foundation (the Foundation) to enhance student development and campus life. In appreciation of this benevolent support, HKUST has named the UG Student Hall III in honor of Mr. Ho Iu Kwong and his wife, Ms. Kwok Pui Chun.

Mr. HO Sai-Chu, eldest son of the late philanthropist and Chairman of the Foundation, attended the naming and plaque unveiling ceremony for the Ho Iu Kwong and Kwok Pui Chun Hall, joined by his family members, the Foundation’s representatives, and HKUST senior management. The late Mr. HO Iu Kwong, founder of Fook Lee Construction Company Ltd, was a distinguished business figure who made significant contributions to education and society.

In his address, Mr. Ho Sai-Chu, Director of Fook Lee Holdings Company Ltd, honored the life of his father. “Growing up with a humble background, my father was renowned for his diligence and lifelong dedication to advancing education and student development. The Foundation was established to honor and carry forward his legacy of commitment. It is heartening to see HKUST dedicated to cultivating innovative talents with a global mindset — a mission that aligns perfectly with the Foundation’s goals. I hope our donation empowers HKUST to create a nurturing environment that fosters cross-cultural communication, inspires creativity, and broaden the horizons of the younger generation,” he said.

HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Foundation. She said, “As a steadfast advocate for education, Mr. Ho Iu Kwong regarded education as a fundamental pillar of society, a vision that resonates deeply with HKUST's core mission of cultivating exceptional talents to drive economic growth and social advancement. The Ho family's generous donation not only bolsters our undergraduate accommodation facilities and enriches campus life, but also helps attract more international students to Hong Kong, furthering the HKSAR's goal of promoting the "Study in Hong Kong" brand. As we approach HKUST’s 35th anniversary next year, we look forward to strengthening our partnership with the Foundation to make even greater contributions to the prosperity and advancement of Hong Kong and the nation.”
