The School of Business and Management of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) announced today the launch of the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. The four-year program will provide rigorous and professional training for participants to develop a portfolio of skills in conducting practice-based research.

This distinctive program is designed for motivated leaders, senior executives and entrepreneurs to enhance their research capabilities, develop deep knowledge and innovative insights for positive business and societal impacts.

“Committed to academic excellence, HKUST has rapidly risen in recognition in its short history and become one of the most respected business schools in Asia,” said Prof. TAM Kar Yan, Dean of HKUST Business School. “We are pleased to present our new DBA program, which attests to our 30 years of ongoing commitment in driving rigorous research and global influence.”

The part-time program will commence in September 2021. Core courses and electives across broad disciplines will be taught in 4-day modular basis including weekends in 16 modules. The curriculum requires students to complete 55 credits, with the focus on coursework and a thesis proposal in the first two years and on thesis research and short residential programs in the final two years.

“We aim to train students in applied business research and expose them to the latest developments,” said Prof. ZHENG Shaohui, DBA Program Academic Director. “Students will benefit from the strengths the School can offer – an internationally renowned faculty, proven excellence in research, an interdisciplinary approach to exploring new topics, and opportunities to network with leading business figures.”

The HKUST DBA program seeks to admit a highly selective group of senior executives who are motivated to learn and share their experience, and are committed to going through this professional doctoral training with our faculty and their peers. Basic requirements for admission include a bachelor’s degree, preferably a master’s degree, at least 12 years’ experience at managerial level, and a high standard of English. The application deadline is May 1, 2021.
