It’s true what they say! Our university days really are amongst the happiest, most stimulating times of our lives! What are your most treasured HKUST campus memories?
The irresistible aroma of late-night cart noodles after a hard day’s hitting the books?
That time you accidently trod on the “Wisdom Stone” and worried that you wouldn’t graduate?
The “free rider” in your project group who never seemed to pitch in?
A-Z NFT icons
Determined to make HKUST’s 30th anniversary celebrations more fun and innovative, we’ve launched a charity sale of a limited edition of highly collectible non-fungible token (NFT) artworks that vividly recreate those happy times.
The highlight of the collection is a series of 26 incredibly evocative icons of HKUST life – one for every letter in the A to Z – created by HKUST MBA alumna and leading local artist, Vivian HO. Each icon also comes in two eye-catching alternative designs from Vivian’s fellow alumni at HKUST-grown NFT and blockchain start-up Moon Lab, making up the 78-icon set. Each icon is available in limited copies of 10, totaling 780 collectibles available for purchase individually.
As befitting the year of HKUST’s establishment, the price for each icon is set at HK$1,991. The funds raised will be used to further enrich our University’s diversified learning experience, campus life and artistic and cultural development.
The limited collection is now available at this link. You can pay by either cryptocurrency or credit card.
Alumni's fun designs
The artworks were originally created by Vivian for our 30th anniversary board game. One of the brightest and newest generation of creative stars, Vivian is always passionately interested in new forms of artistic expression and thus agree to have her sought-after original designs digitally minted as NFTs for the charity sale. Equal parts romantic and cinematic, her pieces here are excellent examples of her evolving curiosity in non-physical digital art traded online as NFTs via blockchain technology.
To symbolize our University’s development, Vivian focused on instantly recognizable HKUST architectural landmarks such as the IAS Building, LSK Building and Hong Kong Jockey Club Atrium plus our recently opened Shaw Auditorium.
Recreating campus moments
Other unforgettable campus moments Vivian has immortalized alphabetically include:
D honors the “Dean List Fighters” who battle it out for the highest GPA score.
K highlights the campus’s legendary "LG7 Kittens" who are actually strays and well-cared for by both students and staff.
N represents the much-loved "Cart Noodles" where our students traditionally refuel after a hard day poring over books or writing papers.
P stands for “Project Free Riders” and gently lampoons those lazy souls who never seem to quite pull their weight in group projects.
Elsewhere:
S is for “Smuggled Visitors” or “Snakes” a.k.a. students who sleep-over at friends’ dorms.
T playfully salutes our Academic Building’s Lift 3 that moves tardily like a turtle.
W’s inspiration is the dreaded “Wisdom Stone” and the myth that those careless enough to step on it would never graduate!
Relatable, funny and sure to unleash endless happy memories, these collections will prove to be a big hit with HKUST community members past and present.
