In electronic engineering, HKUST researchers are advancing satellite communications and 6G networks with novel acoustic chip technology and improving the efficiency and durability of perovskite tandem solar cells through molecular interface engineering.

In biomedicine, a generative AI framework for misalignment-resistant virtual staining will seek to accelerate histopathology workflows. At the same time, HKUST’s pre-eminence in adaptive structures and technologies was featured at the international conference ICAST, recently hosted by the University. 

Expanding its global innovation and sustainability footprint, HKUST recently inaugurated the Blue Bay Qianhai Innovation Center, which will strengthen Shenzhen-Hong Kong collaborations. What’s more, agreements with a consortium of leading French corporations promise to advance low-carbon retrofitting via a groundbreaking green investment model.

To advance AI education and talent cultivation, HKUST will introduce a mandatory AI Common Core Program that will equip students with the relevant mindset and competencies. Furthermore, a generous donation to establish the “Fiona Cheung Scholarship” will support high-achieving students pursuing the Major + AI program.

Seeking to nurture outstanding talent, HKUST has deepened its partnership with the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology through a government-funded scholarship framework.
