HKUST and Peking University Steer the Official Launch of Beijing - Hong Kong Universities Alliance
Led by Peking University and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the Beijing – Hong Kong Universities Alliance (BHUA) – jointly initiated by multiple Hong Kong and Beijing universities, was officially launched today, forging strong ties among universities across Hong Kong and Beijing. Representatives from Hong Kong and Chinese government departments, as well as university leaders from Hong Kong and Beijing, attended the launching ceremony held at HKUST today. Officiating guests included Mr Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education of the People’s Republic of China; Prof Tan Tieniu, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in HKSAR; Dr Liu Yuhui, Director-General of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and Mr Kevin Yeung, Secretary for Education of HKSAR.

Developing E-Learning for Information Literacy
InfoLit for U MOOC is an information literacy course-ware developed by 8 JULAC libraries that was released in January 2018. It is available for individual use across all UGC-supported universities, and beyond, as a self-paced non-credit-brearing asynchronous class.

HKUST MBA Claims No.14 in Financial Times Global Ranking
The MBA Program, offered by the School of Business and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School), has been ranked No.14 in the world by the Financial Times. This is the ninth consecutive year that the Program has been ranked in the top 15 globally. The HKUST MBA Program has constantly achieved positive results throughout the years. The newly released Financial Times Global MBA Ranking once again reflects the joint efforts made by the Program and the surveyed alumni who graduated in 2014 (i.e. intake of 2012) to understand the business talent that the changing market needs.

A new 3-credit course, ENVR 3010G Sustainability Thinking was offered in last spring semester. This hands-on course was designed for students who would like to learn more about sustainable behaviors and apply sustainable thinking in a real-life project.

BizInsight@HKUST Forum Examines the Future of Chinese Family Businesses
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology School of Business and Management (HKUST Business School) hosted a BizInsight@HKUST Luncheon Forum on 13 September 2017. The forum featured scholars in the field of family business studies and a dynamic group of next generation leaders to discuss the future of Chinese family businesses. Over 160 business leaders, professionals working for family businesses and guests from the HKUST community also gathered to honor the renewed donation from the Tanoto Foundation to the HKUST’s Tanoto Center for Asian Family Business and Entrepreneurship Studies.

HKUST Underwater Robot Competition promotes STEAM education to youngsters from a wide spectrum
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted its annual Underwater Robot Competition and a record high 300 students from 42 different primary and secondary school signed up for the four-day event. As part of the University’s effort to promote inclusion and robotics education among the wider community, the Competition invited students from mainstream schools, students with special educational needs (SEN), physical disability, as well as ethnic minorities to take part and make their own inventions.
