HKUST and Delft University of Technology Launch Partnership on Art and Technology Education and Research
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in the Netherlands, have formed a new strategic partnership focused on art and technology education and research.
This partnership, inaugurated on December 6, 2024, by HKUST Dean of the Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) Prof. QU Huamin and a delegation from TU Delft led by Prof. Maaike KLEINSMANN, Chair of the TU Delft | Campus Rotterdam Program, marks a significant milestone in fostering interdisciplinary innovation, and enhancing knowledge exchange in art and technology to create meaningful social impact.

Now in its second year, the five-day program offers a world-class platform for 34 trailblazing young leaders and entrepreneurs from 22 countries and regions – spanning Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East – to engage in fruitful discussions on the evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) with our faculty members and acclaimed scholars in this field.

HKUST Exemplifies Sustainability Leadership at GSDC in Bangkok Taking 19th Spot Worldwide in Latest Impact Rankings on UN SDGs
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) gained recognition for its efforts to become a global sustainability leader as the University was ranked the world’s 19th*, as well as the first in Hong Kong and Mainland China in its debut appearance in Times Higher Education (THE)’s Impact Rankings, announced in its annual Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) yesterday in Bangkok. Assessing over 2,100 universities worldwide for their impacts in helping achieve the United Nations’ 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs), THE commended HKUST in particular for its contributions to SDGs 9, 11 and 12, which focus on building resilient infrastructure and industries with innovation, promoting sustainable cities and ensuring responsible consumption and production.

HKUST Showcases Three Decades of Success at High-level Forum and Strengthens Ties with Esteemed Korean Institutions in Seoul
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) sought to strengthen ties with South Korean institutions and industries, as the University’s senior management participated in a high-profile forum in Seoul yesterday and today, and engaged with top universities and incubators in the country to explore collaboration opportunities in education, research and knowledge transfer.
HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP, the only representative from a Hong Kong university, delivered a special speech at the Seoul Forum, joining distinguished scholars in AI and robotics from renowned institutions such as Caltech and MIT, industrial leaders from global giants including IBM and Samsung, as well as esteemed policymakers and experts across different sectors. The two-day forum was hosted by the Seoul Economic Daily.

HKUST Recruits Top Indonesian Students with Indonesian Government Partnership
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed a landmark agreement with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (MoECRT), making HKUST the first university in Hong Kong to nurture outstanding Indonesian undergraduates under the Indonesia Education Scholarship for Degree Program in collaboration with MoECRT.
Following the agreement, the first batch of 12 top Indonesian undergraduate (UG) students will join HKUST in the new academic year (2024-25) via a rigorous selection process. MoECRT will provide them with a full scholarship covering tuition fees, living expenses and other allowances, for the duration of their academic programs. The students will be joining HKUST in September to study UG programs in Science, Engineering, Business, Humanities and Social Science, as well as interdisciplinary fields.
