HKUST Researchers Develop Novel Audio Technology and Sales Model that Bring More Affordable and Better-performed Hearing Aids
Researchers from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) have developed an intelligent hearing aid which not only allows users to adjust the clarity of selected sound sources, but is also much more affordable at just one tenth the price of similar products in the market. Developed by Prof Richard So from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Logistics Management and his student Calvin Zhang, fresh graduate of MPhil Program in Technology Leadership and Entrepreneurship (TLE), the novel audio technology not only promises to improve life for the elderly and the hearing-impaired, but will also enhance the audio quality of hearing protection equipment and communication devices such as mobile phones and walkie-talkies, as well as the accuracy of voice recognition devices.

HKUST Business School Named “School of the Year” by CEMS
The School of Business and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST Business School) has earned the “CEMS School of the Year” title, becoming the first Asian school to receive this international honor. CEMS is a global alliance that collaborates with 30 leading business schools around the world to offer a Master’s degree program in International Management. Its curriculum is consistent across all member schools, where students can choose to spend one semester each at two schools on different continents, gaining a truly global understanding of the business world and double recognition on graduation.

HKUST Celebrates its 7th World No.1 Ranking for Kellogg-HKUST EMBA Program
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)’s partnership Executive MBA (EMBA) program is ranked No.1 in the world in the latest Financial Times (FT) Global EMBA Rankings. This is the seventh time the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program has topped the highly regarded international ranking chart. According to the FT Global EMBA Rankings 2016, the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program has achieved outstanding performance in a number of surveyed fields. On career progress, the program graduates achieved the highest average salary three years after graduation, reaching US$468,670 (HK$3,655,626) per annum this year.  The EMBA graduates saw an average increase of 55 per cent in their income after taking the program.

Fosun Vice-Chairman and CEO Mr Xinjun Liang Shares the Group’s Investment Philosophy and Entrepreneurial Spirit at HKUST 25th Anniversary Distinguished Speakers Series
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted the 25th Anniversary Distinguished Speakers Series today, featuring Mr Xinjun Liang, Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of China’s leading investment corporation Fosun Group. The event was well received by students, faculty members and guests from HKUST. In his talk titled “Fosun’s Investment Philosophy and Entrepreneurial Spirit”, Mr Liang shared how the Hong Kong-listed group has grown from a mainland enterprise with just RMB 38,000 in registered capital, into a world-leading investment group with total asset value exceeding RMB 400 billion. Mr Liang also encouraged HKUST students to engage in industries and embrace challenges in high spirits.

HKUST Signs Agreements with Four Leading Universities to Foster Student Exchange
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) concluded the hosting of the inaugural Times Higher Education Asia Universities Summit on 21 June and signed agreements at the Summit with four leading universities, namely the University of Glasgow, Jagiellonian University, the University of Warwick and University of Waterloo to foster international exchange opportunities for students. The two-day Asia Universities Summit was hosted by HKUST, featuring as speakers some 30 presidents, chancellors and rectors from fast-rising and top universities in 15 countries and cities around the globe, including Mainland China, Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, the United States, and the United Kingdom, among others.  Some 260 delegates of higher education and other sectors from over 20 countries attended the Summit and shared their insights into nurturing creativity and innovation.
