HKUST Underwater Robot Competition promotes STEAM education to youngsters from a wide spectrum
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) hosted its annual Underwater Robot Competition and a record high 300 students from 42 different primary and secondary school signed up for the four-day event. As part of the University’s effort to promote inclusion and robotics education among the wider community, the Competition invited students from mainstream schools, students with special educational needs (SEN), physical disability, as well as ethnic minorities to take part and make their own inventions.

HKUST Students Receive Donation to Solve Healthcare Problems in Indonesia and Cambodia
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a donation from Equal Opportunities Foundation for the establishment of Student Innovation for Global Health Technology (SIGHT) Scholar Scheme, which enables undergraduates to work on their self-proposed healthcare projects in full time internship locally or overseas. Two teams consisted of six students were awarded this year.

Bathing for Elderly made Easy
Illustrating the innovation at work at HKUST, Prof Neville Ka Shek Lee and his design team consisting of HKUST alumni have devised a novel way for seniors to wash in greater safety while retaining their independence
The bathroom can be a dangerous place especially when you are a senior. The US National Institute of Aging has found that more than one in three aged 65 and over fall each year, with 80% taking place there. Heart attacks, scalding and fainting are other incidents that can frequently occur while bathing.

HKUST Receives a Donation from Kingworld Medicines Group to Boost Exchange of Business Students and Research in Chinese Medicine
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) received a donation from Kingworld Medicines Group in support of the University’s Center for Chinese Medicine R&D and student exchange activities of the School of Business and Management.
In recognition of the Group’s generosity and support, HKUST named a tiered classroom of the Lee Shau Kee Business Building after the company. A ceremony was held earlier on the campus today. Officiating guests included Mr Zhao Li Sheng, Co-founder and Chairman of Kingworld Medicines Group, HKUST President Prof Tony F Chan and other senior management.

HKUST Receives Donation from Bright Future Charitable Foundation to Establish Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) celebrated on 5 November, 2016 the opening of the Academy for Bright Future Young Engineers, where engineering students at HKUST will be given the opportunities to mentor and engage secondary school students in various engineering workshops, to spark their interests in technology and instill in them an engineering frame of mind.

Green is the New Black
At HKUST, we encourage our community to care more about the pressing environmental issues, our student Eco-Reps of Sustainable Campus Leadership Program, Rinaldi Gotama took a gap semester and volunteered as a research assistant for Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Project in West Indonesian Borneo. He had a wonderful working experience to share regarding his study on Orangutans’ social and feeding behaviors, health and metabolism.
