Joint study reveals how DNA unzipping machine works, shedding lights on cancer therapy
Scientists from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), The University of Hong Kong (HKU) and Institut Curie, France have jointly uncovered a new mechanism of the human MCM2-7 complex in regulating replication initiation, which can be used as a novel and effective anticancer strategy with the potential for selective killing of cancer cells. The findings were recently published in the Cell journal (link to publication).

HKUST Scholars Named IEEE Fellows and Became First in Hong Kong to Receive IEEE Communications Society Edwin Howard Armstrong Achievement Award
Four distinguished scholars at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) were honored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). On top of three newly-named IEEE Fellows, Prof. Khaled B. LETAIEF, New Bright Professor of Engineering and Chair Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering, became the first in Hong Kong and one of the first few in Asia to receive IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Edwin Howard Armstrong Achievement Award since the award was established in 1958.

Two HKUST Distinguished Scholars Receive Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Awards and Croucher Senior Research Fellowships 2022
Two distinguished scholars at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) – Professor Jensen Li Tsan-hang and Assistant Professor Dr. Berthold Jäck, both from the Department of Physics, were recently awarded the prestigious 2022 Croucher Senior Research Fellowships, and the Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Awards 2022 by The Croucher Foundation.
