Prof. GUO Yike Elected as International Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
Prof. GUO Yike, Provost and Chair Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), has been elected as an International Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the Information and Electronics Engineering Division. The CAE is the nation's highest academic institution in engineering sciences and technology, and membership is considered as the highest lifelong academic honor in the field.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is pleased to announce that 12 of its scholars have been named to Clarivate Analytics' Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list. This achievement underscores the University's internationally recognized research and academic excellence and highlights its contributions to socioeconomic development and technological advancement across various fields.This year, 6,868 scholars from 60 countries and regions have been named as Highly Cited Researchers. They were selected for their exceptional performance, which is demonstrated by the production of multiple highly cited papers. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has introduced its groundbreaking "Major + X" curriculum, a transformative academic framework designed to directly support Hong Kong’s development into a global AI hub and contribute to the national 15th Five-Year Plan's "AI+" initiative. By empowering students to fuse their core majors with high-demand fields like AI and Sustainability, the program is building a pipeline of talent capable of driving the scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation called for in the national strategy. Over 200 HKUST Scholars Named among the World's Top 2% Scientists 2025
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has achieved remarkable success in Stanford University's latest World's Top 2% Scientists 2025 list. A total of 204 scholars were recognised for their single-year impact, while 181 were acknowledged for their career-long impact, marking increases of 15% and 7%, respectively, compared to last year. HKUST Holds Flag-Raising Ceremony to Celebrate the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held a flag-raising ceremony on campus this morning to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China.The University was honored to have Ms. ZHOU Qian, Counselor of the Department of Treaty and Law at the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, preside over the ceremony. She was joined by Dr. John CHAN, HKUST Pro-Chancellor; Dr. the Hon. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing, HKUST Court Chairman; and Prof. Nancy IP, HKUST President. The event was attended by over 400 members of the HKUST community and generated more than 10,000 online views via live stream.
