HKUST Scholars Named IEEE Fellows and Became First in Hong Kong to Receive IEEE Communications Society Edwin Howard Armstrong Achievement Award
Four distinguished scholars at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) were honored by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). On top of three newly-named IEEE Fellows, Prof. Khaled B. LETAIEF, New Bright Professor of Engineering and Chair Professor of Electronic and Computer Engineering, became the first in Hong Kong and one of the first few in Asia to receive IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc) Edwin Howard Armstrong Achievement Award since the award was established in 1958.

Two HKUST Distinguished Scholars Receive Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Awards and Croucher Senior Research Fellowships 2022
Two distinguished scholars at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) – Professor Jensen Li Tsan-hang and Assistant Professor Dr. Berthold Jäck, both from the Department of Physics, were recently awarded the prestigious 2022 Croucher Senior Research Fellowships, and the Croucher Tak Wah Mak Innovation Awards 2022 by The Croucher Foundation.

HKUST Confers Honorary Fellowships on Five Distinguished Individuals
Five distinguished individuals, Mr. David FONG Man-Hung, Mr. LEE Shing-Put, Mr. David LEE Wai-Hung, The Hon. Starry LEE Wai-King and Mr. Daniel YU Chung-Kwong were conferred Honorary Fellowships by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today. Officiating at the ceremony were the Hon. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing, Chairman of the HKUST Council, and Prof. Wei SHYY, President of the HKUST.

HKUST Holds Sixth Inauguration Ceremony of Named Professorships for Outstanding Faculty Members
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held the Sixth Inauguration Ceremony of Named Professorships today to honor eight outstanding faculty members and their donors.
Officiating at the ceremony, HKUST Council Chairman the Hon. Andrew LIAO Cheung-Sing said, “Every year, the University’s Named Professorships program attracts and retains globally recognized scholars working on increasingly challenging and diverse topics — in line with HKUST’s efforts to promote innovative research across the borders of science and engineering, business, humanities, and social sciences. I extend my most sincere gratitude to our donors and my warmest congratulations to the 2022 cohort of HKUST Named Professors — the latest torch-bearers for the University’s unrelenting pursuit of academic excellence.”
