Running a start-up has never been an easy task. IPO Industrial Fellows, Mr Francis LO, Director, Talentum International Limited and Mr Rex MA, Co-founder & Managing Director, iGen6 shared their valuable experiences of establishing successful business with IPO students.

The Division of Environment & Sustainability and Business Environment Council organized the seminar "Merging Science, Policy, & Business Building a Network of Sustainable Cities" to present and discuss how the urban complexes of Los Angeles, Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta are interconnected through the global trade in goods and resources and the environmental and societal challenges the cities face on 11 September 2017.

With the generous sponsorship of Wong Chak Chui International Enrichment Scholarship 2016/17, four IPO students went aboard to take up internships and earned eye-opening working experiences in different industries.

Internships are an important part of university life to gain real world working experience as well as discovering and understanding yourself. As Pishun (T&M-DDP) said, "whatever you do, do not restrict yourself by what you study, because the future is full of possibilities."

In the past 2016/17 academic year, Dual Degree Program in Technology & Management (T&M-DDP) students joined various competitions and demonstrated their outstanding abilities and potentials of future consultants and engineers.

The Summer Internship Closing Ceremony, organized by the Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) was held successfully on 11 August 2017, indicating that the AA Summer Internship Program 2017 finally came to an end. Three IPO students from the Risk Management and Business Intelligence Program (RMBI) and the Environmental Management and Technology Program (EVMT), together with four other HKUST students selected for the Program had a fruitful experience in this eight-week internship and gave their project presentation in the ceremony.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has launched a First-Year Experience @ Residence (FYE) Program – a new initiative in residence halls that aims to smooth first-year students’ transition and adaptation to a new university life, and to engage freshmen in residential hall activities to foster an inclusive and caring learning environment. This pilot program is part of the University’s continuing efforts to enhance students’ residential life experience.  Some 500 first-year students, of whom about a quarter are non-local students, will be offered a full year of on-campus residence.  During when they will be taken care of by senior students called SUG (senior undergraduate) mentors, who will take the lead in helping hall mates bond and help freshmen familiarized themselves with the new environment.
