The HKUST Belt and Road Forum, organized by Global Engagement and Greater China Affairs and co-hosted by the Division of Public Policy, themed "Navigating New Frontiers: The Future of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)," concluded successfully on October 7. Nearly 100 students, faculty, staff, and alumni gathered on campus to explore how the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has been fostering international cooperation and enhancing connectivity and prosperity.
The forum featured opening remarks from Mr. Nicholas HO, Belt and Road Commissioner of the HKSAR Government, and a panel discussion with five diplomats from Belt and Road countries - Mr. Chaturont CHAIYAKAM, Consul General of Thailand; Mr. Kerim EVCIN, Consul General of Turkiye; Mr. Muzambli MARKAM, Consul General of Malaysia; Mr. Riaz SHAIKH, Consul General of Pakistan; and Mrs. Endah YULIARTI, Consul for Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs of Indonesia. Moderated by Prof. Naubahar SHARIF, Head of Division of Public Policy of HKUST, the panel explored the momentum behind BRI infrastructure projects, trade, education and cultural connectivity in the decade since the initiative launched.
HKUST remains committed to engaging with Consul Generals of BRI countries for meaningful dialogue that embraces global perspectives.
