Sponsorship for International Conference

To support HKUST’s vision as a leading university with significant global impact and enhance HKUST’s international visibility, the Global Engagement and Communication Office (GECO) recently launched the International Conference Sponsorship Scheme for the year 2024-2025.

The office will sponsor successful applicant(s)/unit(s) for organizing and hosting international conferences that bring together renowned scholars, researchers, policymakers and industry leaders from around the world to discuss the latest trends and developments in key research areas.  The sponsorship can be used to cover a range of expenses associated with hosting large-scale physical event(s) in an impactful manner, including F&B, marketing and promotional materials.

Sponsorship

The Taskforce will grant sponsorship up to HK$100,000 per conference, with consideration of the following criteria:

  1. Length and format of the international conference
  2. Number of participants
  3. Number of international speakers
  4. Number of funding source(s) secured

Eligibility

  • All HKUST schools/units/centres are eligible to apply for the sponsorship scheme.
  • The funding should only be used for the organization of the applied conference at HKUST.
  • In case the conference does not take place as planned, the Organizing Unit should return the granted sponsorship to the Taskforce for supporting other conferences.
  • For transparency within the Taskforce, the email granting the sponsorship will be copied to the respective Dean and IAS Director (in case the IAS funding has also been applied).

Submission

  • Application form (download here) should be submitted by the Organizing Unit via email to global@ust.hk at least 2 months before the event. Early submission is recommended to allow enough lead time.
